Congress Bid Guidelines
The ISDE is an international, multispecialty society founded in 1979 for the study of the esophagus in disease and in health. The goal of the congress is to promote the exchange of scientific and medical knowledge among specialists in the field, to maintain interchange with organizations and industries, and to encourage basic and clinical research in fields related to the esophagus.
In order to promote the professional and educational development of individuals interested in the esophagus, the ISDE sponsors its own journal, international congresses, and other educational programs. The ISDE is managed under the auspices of International Conferences Service, Ltd.
The ISDE accepts applications from destinations and their local/regional tourism/business support group to host the annual World Congress for Esophageal Diseases. The ISDE Congresses rotate among three global regions: Eastern (Asia/Pacific/Middle East), Europe/Africa, and Western (Pan America).
ISDE Board is looking favorably at bids supported by the local ISDE members/local esophageal groups.
Request for Proposals period from the Eastern (Asia/Pacific) region to host the ISDE 2029 Congress is now open.
ISDE invites destinations in the Eastern (Asia/Pacific) region interested in hosting the 2029 Congress to submit a proposal. All bids are due by Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
ISDE Members interested in supporting a bid from their city of residence are requested to contact their convention/destination bureau.

Application Timeline
- By April 29, 2026 – Bids due
- By July 31, 2026 – Bids will be assessed by the ISDE Board of Directors; Board will shortlist 3-4 destinations for a site visit. Selected destinations will be informed to assist with site visit arrangements.
- Late October 2026 – Site visits to shortlisted destinations to be undertaken by the ISDE representatives and PCO (ICS)
- By mid-January 2027 – Announcement of the ISDE 2029 Congress host city.

- September 21-23, 2027 – Utrecht, The Netherlands
- September 5-7, 2028 – Montreal, Canada
